In a departure from VVIP protocol, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paused his motorcade to allow an ambulance to pass on Dhaka Elevated Expressway on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place around 9am near the Kawran Bazar end of the expressway while the prime minister was travelling from Banani towards FDC intersection on his way to Secretariat. As the motorcade proceeded, an ambulance was seen attempting to navigate through the traffic behind the convoy with its sirens blaring.
Upon noticing the emergency vehicle, Tarique immediately instructed his security personnel to pull over and provide a clear passage.
Following his directive, the security officials cleared the way, allowing the ambulance to proceed ahead of the motorcade.
While it is standard practice in Bangladesh for general traffic to be halted to make way for VVIP movements, Tarique chose to break this tradition.
