Leaders and activists of the Jatiotabadi Mohila Dal held a broom procession in Kushtia on Tuesday protesting alleged “derogatory” remarks made by Kushtia-3 (Sadar) Member of Parliament Md Amir Hamza against Member of Parliament for the reserved women’s seat Farida Yeasmin.
The procession was held in Kushtia town at around 1pm. It started from the Public Library premises in the town, paraded through key roads, and concluded at Shahid Chhattar at Panch Rastar Mor.
Following the procession, a brief rally was held at the venue. During the rally, Mohila Dal leaders expressed their protest against Hamza’s statement and announced that political and organisational protests against him would continue.
Leaders and activists of Mohila Dal said that derogatory comments regarding a female public representative are completely unacceptable under any circumstances. Condemning such remarks, they demanded that appropriate action be taken against the individual concerned.
Kushtia Town Mohila Dal President Shilpi, along with leaders and activists of the organisation from various levels, were present at the event.
