Sheikh Sajol Ahmed, a leader of Shantiganj upazila Jubo Dal and a member of the Paschim Birgaon Union BNP Convening Committee, passed away on Monday.
He suffered a stroke at Shantiganj Bazar in Sunamganj while returning from a programme at the Upazila Parishad. Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased will be held on Tuesday at 2pm at the Joysiddhi Basiyakhauri Muhammadia Madrasa ground.
Sajol was the son of Sheikh Mortuza Saheb. A pall of gloom descended on the region following the news of his death. Local residents recalled his active involvement as a young social worker who played a leading role in social activities and dispute resolutions.
He was also remembered for his dedicated service during natural disasters, particularly his prompt assistance during floods and his notable contributions to post-flood rehabilitation efforts.
Meanwhile, Koysor M Ahmed, lawmaker for the Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur-Shantiganj) constituency and member of the BNP national executive committee, expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the leader.
In a condolence message on Monday, the member of parliament said that the demise of Sheikh Sajol Ahmed is an irreparable loss to his family, whilst local residents have lost a dedicated social worker and the party has lost a devoted leader.
He prayed for the maagfirat of the departed soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Jannatul Ferdous and to grant patience and fortitude to the bereaved family.
