Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has extended congratulations to the winners of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and thanked election authorities for conducting the vote.
In a statement issued on Friday, Rezaul Karim, widely known as Charmonai Pir, said the long-awaited election took place on Thursday.
He acknowledged that there were some irregularities and disturbances, but described the process as a “fair election” given Bangladesh’s circumstances.
“I express my sincere greetings and gratitude to the interim government, the Election Commission, and everyone involved in the electoral process,” he said.
Charmonai Pir also congratulated all winning candidates and political parties, urging them to honour the promises made to the public. “I hope you will remain accountable to the people’s expectations,” he said.
He further called on leaders to respect the sacrifices made during the July mass uprising. “Please uphold the aspirations for which people sacrificed their lives and blood,” he added.
