The Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has firmly stated that his party refuses to be exploited by political opportunists seeking power.
In a passionate speech during an election rally at Balur Maath, Kanchpur, Sonargaon, Narayanganj, on Friday afternoon, Rezaul Karim, also known as Charmonai Pir, condemned certain political partices for deceiving the public with false promises.
He accused a “self-interested party” of misleading voters by promising to implement Sharia law upon gaining power. Rezaul Karim warned that these promises would never be fulfilled, asserting that such parties have no intention of governing according to Islamic principles or enforcing Sharia law.
Rezaul Karim further stated that while friendly relations with neighbouring countries are important, India has never treated Bangladesh as a true ally.
“There is a party that has been secretly meeting with India, and they are capable of betraying their trusted allies. They will deceive the people when they come to power,” he added.
Emphasising his party’s stance, Rezaul Karim declared, “We do not want to be the ladder for these opportunists to climb into power. That is why we left the 11-party alliance.”
In his address, Rezaul Karim reaffirmed the core values of Islami Andolon Bangladesh. “We are not in politics for ministerial positions. Our politics is focused on the welfare of the people, the establishment of justice, and the promotion of Islam,” he said.
Reflecting on Bangladesh’s independence struggle, Rezaul Karim lamented the failure of successive governments to fulfill the hopes of the nation.
“The people sacrificed their lives in 1971 for equality, dignity, and justice. But over the past 54 years, those in power have failed to achieve these goals. We are seeing cases like the release of death row convicts, which highlights the collapse of our justice system,” he added.
The rally was chaired by Golam Mosiha, the Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for Narayanganj-3 constituency. Rezaul Karim urged the people of Narayanganj-3 to support Mosiha in the upcoming election.
Maulana Din Islam, president of the Narayanganj district election committee, along with other leaders from Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s Sonargaon branch attended the event.
