Charge sheets filed in 34 cases linked to July uprising

Police have so far submitted charge sheets in 34 cases related to the student-public movement that took place across various parts of the country last year.

Among these, 13 are murder cases, while 21 involve other charges, police officials confirmed.

Assistant Inspector General (Media and Public Relations) AHM Shahadat Hossain of the Police Headquarters, shared the information through a press release on Tuesday.

The 13 murder cases were filed in the districts of Sherpur, Feni, Chandpur, Cumilla, Dhaka, and Kurigram, and are being handled by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, and Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

The remaining 21 cases under various charges were lodged in Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Pabna, Naogaon, Mymensingh, and Jamalpur districts, as well as under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka, Barishal, and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

A total of 1,390 individuals have been made accused in the murder cases, while 777 people are named in the other cases.

The statement also noted that a total of 1,730 cases have been filed nationwide for murder and other offences connected to the July Uprising.

Senior police officials are currently overseeing investigations to ensure due process and accountability of all cases related to the uprising. The Bangladesh Police reaffirmed its commitment to completing all investigations and bringing those responsible to justice, the notice stated.
