CAAB launches free shuttle service for passengers at Dhaka airport

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has launched a free shuttle service to ensure safe, easy, fast and comfortable travel for arriving and departing passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).

The service was formally inaugurated on Tuesday at a ceremony held in front of the airport canopy by the Executive Director of HSIA, Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, who attended the event as the chief guest, reads a press release.

Launched under the guidance of the minister and state minister for the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and under the supervision of the CAAB Chairman, the shuttle service is fully funded by CAAB.

The free shuttle buses will operate on the Airport–Airport bus stand, Jasimuddin Mor–Airport railway station and Kaola–Airport routes.

The service will allow passengers to travel free of charge between key transport points connected to the airport in a fast, safe and comfortable manner.

It is expected to particularly benefit senior citizens, women, children, passengers with physical disabilities and those carrying heavy luggage.

The initiative is also expected to help reduce dependence on private vehicles, ease traffic congestion in the airport area, promote environmentally friendly transport and improve the overall standard of passenger services.

Speaking at the inauguration, the executive director of HSIA said CAAB has been implementing various timely initiatives to enhance passenger services, improve travel convenience and ensure international-standard airport services at the country’s main international airport.

“As part of these efforts, this completely free shuttle service has been introduced, which will play an important role in saving passengers’ time, ensuring safe travel and providing improved services,” he said.

Reaffirming its commitment to placing passengers first, CAAB said it will continue to undertake timely and public-oriented initiatives to improve passenger services, ensure safe and comfortable travel, and deliver airport services in line with international standards.

Senior CAAB officials, officials of HSIA, stakeholders and members of the media were present at the inauguration ceremony.
