A training session and drill on earthquake and fire evacuation, firefighting techniques and first aid was held at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) with the cooperation of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The programme, held on the BUBT campus, was attended by selected faculty members, Rover Scouts and BNCC members, students, officers and staff. It aimed to provide hands-on training on rescue operations during fire incidents, firefighting techniques and first aid services for victims.
The training session was held at BUBT’s International Conference Hall. Member of the BUBT Trust and Advisor to the BUBT Trust Safety and Security Advisory Committee Lieutenant General (Retd.) Dr AKM Zafrullah Siddiq attended as chief guest. The session was chaired by Treasurer and Vice-Chancellor (Additional Charge) of BUBT Ali Ahmed.
Senior Station Officer of Mirpur Fire Station Md Shahjahan Siraj conducted the hands-on training as guest trainer.
A live firefighting and rescue drill was held at 4pm in the open space of the campus following the training session. Participants received practical training on safe evacuation methods during earthquakes and fires, fire control techniques and providing first aid to accident victims.
The programme was coordinated by Proctor of BUBT Wing Commander (Retd) Md Momenul Islam.
Organisers said such training programmes would continue regularly to strengthen the disaster response capacity of students and staff.
