Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) trainees will have expanded access to higher education in China through a new Chinese Language Education Centre opened at the institution.
The centre was inaugurated at BKSP’s Audio Visual Centre on Sunday by BKSP Director General Brigadier General Mohammad Saif Ullah and Yunnan Minzu University Party Secretary RUAN Chaoqi. Yunnan Minzu University representatives and BKSP senior officials attended the event, said a press release on Monda.
Three Chinese language instructors are teaching the first batch of 60 trainees. Ten former BKSP trainees are currently pursuing higher education in China. BKSP expects Chinese language proficiency to help expand higher education opportunities for more trainees in future.
A cultural programme followed the inauguration, featuring BKSP trainees and Chinese trainees undergoing cricket training at BKSP. The Chinese delegation later visited the Language Lab, Indoor Cricket Centre and Tai Chi Centre at BKSP’s college section, and attended a meeting with the BKSP Director General.
The initiative falls under a 2024 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BKSP and Yunnan Minzu University.
Under the MoU, cooperation has continued in sports and education, including the establishment of a Tai Chi Centre, scholarships for trainees’ higher education and exchange training programmes between the two institutions. BKSP is also providing cricket training to Yunnan Minzu University students.
