Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs of the 13th National Parliament has recommended preparing a report by compiling an accurate list of martyrs and genuine hero freedom fighters of the Liberation War.
The recommendation was made during the second meeting of the committee held at National Parliament on Monday, with Committee Chairman Md Monirul Haque Chowdhury presiding over the meeting.
During the meeting, discussions were held regarding key activities undertaken by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs over the past six months and their implementation progress.
At this time, the committee recommended that the ministry compile an accurate list of martyrs and genuine hero freedom fighters and prepare a detailed report on the matter.
In addition, a recommendation was made to take necessary measures on a priority basis, in phases, to arrange required medical treatment abroad for injured July fighters.
The committee further recommended that the ministry take necessary steps so that genuine freedom fighters receive required facilities on a priority basis through Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust.
Advice was also given during the meeting to take necessary steps to keep Muktijoddha Sangsad active so that the organisation can play an active role in national politics.
Moreover, the committee advised taking appropriate measures to present accurate history of Liberation War and remaining diligent so that freedom fighters and July fighters receive due honour and respect.
The meeting was attended by committee members including Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ahmed Azam Khan, State Minister Ishraque Hossain, Md Abdul Hannan, and Rokeya Begum.
Senior officials including the Secretary of the ministry, representatives from Directorate of July Mass Uprising, related ministries, and National Parliament Secretariat were also present.
