National Citizen Party (NCP) leaders discussed democratic governance, parliamentary engagement and international cooperation with former Serbian president Boris Tadić during a meeting at the party’s office on Saturday.

Tadić, who served as Serbia’s president from 2004 to 2012, was accompanied by Alex Wang, secretary general of the China-Bangladesh Partnership Platform.

They met NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam and party spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, who also heads its Sub-Committee on Diaspora and International Affairs.

The discussions focused on experiences of parliamentary politics and democratic governance, as well as international relations and the importance of maintaining dialogue and cooperation.

NCP Joint Member Secretary Alauddin Mohammad, who is also a member of the party’s Sub-Committee on Diaspora and International Affairs, and Joint Chief Coordinator Abdullah Al Faisal were also present.

The meeting came as the NCP seeks to broaden its engagement with international political and diplomatic stakeholders. Bangladesh and China have also recently agreed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between political parties as part of wider bilateral engagement.
