The Robi-Drishty Debate Championship 2026 has begun in Chattogram with 56 educational institutions, including 32 schools from the Chattogram metropolitan area and 24 universities and debating clubs from across the country.
The competition was inaugurated on Friday at Theatre Institute Auditorium. It will conclude with the final round and closing ceremony on 9 October, said a press release on Saturday.
This edition marks the 31st Inter-School and 20th Inter-University Debate Competition organised by Drishty Chattogram. Robi Axiata PLC is the sponsor for the 16th consecutive year.
Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain inaugurated the event as chief guest. He said debate is not merely a competition but one of the most effective platforms for developing logic, tolerance and leadership qualities.
Robi Axiata PLC Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahed Alam, corporate personality and lyricist Asif Iqbal, Senior Cluster Market Director Sheikh Mainul Islam and General Manager (Sustainability) Mahfuz Sobhan Ronnie attended as special guests.
Drishty Chattogram Founder Masud Bakul presided over the event.
