Filmmaker Walid Ahmed is directing a new film titled ‘Dhaka 1205’, centred on the realities of city life, dreams, struggle, love and separation in Dhaka.
The film stars Ashna Habib Bhabna and Rakib Hossain in lead roles and is being produced under the banner of Sadamata Entertainment.
Shooting for the film has taken place across several locations in Uttara, Old Dhaka and Nawabganj in the capital. According to the filmmakers, ‘Dhaka 1205’ seeks to portray the lesser-seen realities of life in Dhaka through the language of cinema.
The cast also includes Ayman Shimla, Mohaimin Islam Golpo, Dr Afroza Momen, Subaita, Romel, Senjuti, Afif Khan, Rupam and Zahidul Islam, among others.
The film features several rap, romantic and thematic songs. Lyrics have been written by Walid Ahmed and Rezaur Rahman Rizvi, while Rubel Flynkites is composing the background score.
Speaking about the project, Walid Ahmed said, “The audience will see the chemistry of Bhabna and Rakib’s relationship throughout the film. We have tried to portray the innermost story of Dhaka in the language of cinema. Combining the lives, emotions, relationships and unseen realities of the people of this city, Dhaka 1205 will be a different experience for the audience.”
The director also praised the dedication of the lead actors, saying Bhabna continued shooting despite the intense heat, while Rakib was quick to adapt himself to different characters.
Walid Ahmed’s previous films have received international recognition, earning honours including the Raj Kapoor Award and the Global Independent Film Festival award. His last released film was ‘Megher Kopat’ in 2023. Another of his productions, ‘Jibone Khela’ starring Sajal and Cindy, is currently awaiting release.
Meanwhile, after returning from the 48th Moscow International Film Festival, Bhabna shared a social media post captioned “Dhaka 1205”.
Alongside the caption, she posted a photograph with director Walid Ahmed and co-star Rakib Hossain, generating curiosity among fans about the project.
