The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased gold prices once more, raising the rate by Tk2,216 per bhori. The new price for 22‑carat gold, including VAT, is Tk223,074 per bhori.
In a press release issued Monday morning, BAJUS said the revised VAT‑inclusive rates took effect at 10am. The hike was attributed to higher local market prices of pure gold (Tejabi gold).
According to the updated list, 21‑carat gold is now Tk213,043 per bhori, 18‑carat Tk182,950, and traditional‑method gold Tk149,474 per bhori. One bhori equals 11.664 grams.
BAJUS clarified that the new prices are mandatory for all jewellery outlets until further notice. While VAT is included in the retail price, jewellers may apply making charges depending on ornament design.
Existing BAJUS rules on exchange and purchase, excluding VAT, wages, and stones, remain unchanged.
This latest hike follows a reduction on 24 July, when BAJUS cut the price of 22‑carat gold by Tk3,324 to Tk220,858 per bhori. At that time, 21‑carat gold was Tk210,943, 18‑carat Tk181,200, and traditional gold Tk148,016.
So far this year, gold prices have been adjusted 95 times — raised 46 times, reduced 48 times, and once for VAT. In 2025, there were 93 adjustments, with 64 hikes and 29 cuts.
