Singer Baby Naznin, a voter in the Dhaka-17 constituency, cast her vote at the Gulshan Model School and College polling station at 11:00 am on Thursday. She had been active in the campaign of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman during the 13th National Parliament election.
She voted for BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. After voting, the singer, popularly known as the “Black Diamond”, shared her excitement with reporters, “I voted for Paddy Sheaf. I am very happy. I was finally able to vote. This is what I wanted. I would vote all the votes of 17 years again.”
Speaking about not receiving a nomination herself, she said: “Whatever the party decides is important to me.” When asked whether she might enter parliament through a reserved women’s seat, she replied: “That also depends on the party’s decision. With your prayers, and if Allah wills, it might happen.”
When journalists requested that she sing, Baby Nazneen responded, “The song will definitely happen, but not today. From the day after the election.”
She urged everyone to vote for the victory of the rice sheaf symbol and expressed her determination to help build a beautiful, successful and peaceful Bangladesh under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
