The issue of fake social media accounts targeting artistes is far from new and now celebrated 1990s actress Afsana Mimi has become the latest victim.
Over the past two weeks, an unknown individual has reportedly been operating a fake profile using Mimi’s name, sending friend requests and messages to numerous people. The matter was recently brought to her attention by friends, well-wishers and family members who had received suspicious requests.
Responding to the situation, Afsana Mimi said, “It’s fake. I don’t use any form of social media. I have no idea who is doing this.” Her close associates have also confirmed that the account circulating under her name is entirely false and that someone appears to be impersonating her online.
Although Mimi remains a highly respected figure in the entertainment industry, she is currently less active in acting. She was last seen on screen in the film ‘Utshob’. However, she continues to work regularly behind the camera, directing dramas.
