Students of the Dhaka University-affiliated seven colleges have given an ultimatum for the issuance of the Dhaka Central University ordinance by Saturday. If the ordinance is not issued within this period, they have claimed that they will start an indefinite sit-in programme in front of Shikkha Bhaban in the capital from next Sunday.
Protesters made this announcement at a press conference held in front of Dhaka College after concluding Wednesday’s protest programme.
They said the process of forming a distinct “Dhaka Central University” by integrating seven colleges in the capital has been hanging for a long time.
The complexity is increasing as the university ordinance has not been issued. Students are also stuck in uncertainty, they said.
They said, “If the ordinance is not issued by Saturday, we will start a sit-in in front of Shikkha Bhaban from Sunday.”
