Over 6.5 lakh Ansar personnel to secure polling nationwide: Ansar DG

Ahead of the upcoming elections, more than 650,000 members of Bangladesh Ansar will be posted across polling stations nationwide.

To support this operation, an additional 180,000 Ansar personnel have completed specialised training, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), said on Saturday.

He made the remarks while delivering the chief guest speech at the closing ceremony of the General Ansar Refresher Training-2025, Phase 5, held at the Ansar Academy in Gazipur.

During the elections, Ansar personnel at each polling center will stay in constant contact using a mobile application. Immediate action will be taken against any attempts to disrupt the process, the director general added.

He urged Ansar members to carry out their duties with integrity and dedication, noting that only those who successfully complete advanced training are deemed fit for service in the force.

The event was attended by Additional Director General Brigadier General Fida Mahmud, Deputy Director General (Training) Md. Rafiqul Islam, Academy Commandant Mohammad Nurul Abshar, along with trainees and senior officials of Ansar and VDP.
