A five-member delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Dhaka on Saturday.
The delegation, led by Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, held the meeting at the Pakistan High Commission in Gulshan, Dhaka, in the afternoon, according to party sources.
After the meeting, Taher told reporters, “We discussed regional trade and enhancing mutual relations.”
He added, “Bangladesh’s foreign policy has been one-sided for the last 15 years. We need to establish good relations with all our neighboring countries in the Asian region.”
Taher also stated, “We emphasized the need to resolve the unresolved issues during a bilateral meeting with the Pakistan government on Sunday.”
The Jamaat leader mentioned that mutual relations among Muslim countries were also discussed.
Regarding the 1971 Liberation War, he said, “This issue should be addressed between the two governments.”
While the topic of the national election came up, it was not discussed in detail, he added.
