Chinese automaker DEEPAL has introduced its S05 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) SUV in Bangladesh, targeting consumers looking for lower running costs and greater driving flexibility.
Priced at Tk49.50 lakh, the S05 offers a claimed combined driving range of up to 1,234 km, including up to 158 km of pure electric driving range, according to a press release.
The launch comes as Bangladesh’s automobile market sees growing interest in electrified vehicles, with consumers considering fuel costs, charging availability and long-term ownership expenses before switching from conventional vehicles.
Unlike fully electric vehicles, the PHEV combines electric driving capability for shorter trips with an internal combustion engine for longer journeys, offering an alternative for users concerned about charging availability during extended travel.
DEEPAL said the S05 has been developed for everyday mobility, allowing users to complete many urban journeys using electric power alone, depending on driving patterns.
The company estimates that driving in electric mode could cost around Tk2.5 per kilometre, potentially helping users reduce daily transportation expenses.
The SUV is equipped with a 27.28 kWh CATL battery, which supports its electric driving capability and efficiency.
The vehicle comes with an eight-year warranty for the motor and battery, covering two key components of its electrified powertrain.
DHS Autos Limited, the authorised distributor of DEEPAL in Bangladesh, will provide after-sales support, including three years of free servicing.
With the S05, DEEPAL is targeting buyers seeking electric driving capability along with the flexibility required for longer-distance travel.
