A fire that tore through a textile factory in the southern Chinese city of Foshan on Sunday killed eight people and injured one other, state media reported on Monday.
The blaze erupted at 3:12pm inside a two-storey building within an industrial park in Guangdong province and was brought under control within about an hour, according to Reuters.
The building where the fire broke out was used for production activities including denim fabric washing, the report said, adding that the flames did not spread to neighbouring structures.
A video circulating on social media, verified by Reuters, showed thick plumes of smoke billowing from the building, while a slightly taller structure standing close by appeared to escape damage.
Search-and-rescue operations at the site have since concluded, state television said, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
