Ameesha Patel has questioned the growing practice of Bollywood stars travelling with large entourages during film promotions, particularly when producers are left to cover the costs, writes The Hindustan Times.
The Gadar actor raised the issue during an Ask Me Anything session on X on Sunday, where she responded candidly to questions from fans.
One fan asked whether it was reasonable for actors to bring additional entourage members at a producer’s expense. Ameesha argued that some female actors may be overestimating the scale of their stardom.
“many female actresses are in denial of their stardom. their enterouge during film promotions which comes at the cost of the producers are bigger then their day 1 collection. hope they have the same enterouge in their regular life minus a producer paying for it,” she wrote.
Ameesha did not identify any particular actor in the post.
She was also asked whether she had signed a new project. The actor said she was not interested in appearing in films she considers commercially insignificant simply to remain active.
“Don’t want to be part of buy one get one free offer films and ₹99 ticket price films and that too from day 1 on release day. Rather create gadar once in few years then to do RUBBISH filler films and time wil come super soon to create another havoc at the box office,” she responded.
Ameesha has previously spoken about the criticism faced by Indian actors on social media. In May, she argued that Indian stars often receive harsher treatment from audiences in their own country than Hollywood actors receive from audiences in the US.
“Actors here in INDIA are more badly trolled by our own people than Hollywood stars are within their country from their own people, which is so sad!” she wrote at the time.
She added that Indian celebrities are frequently targeted over their appearance and clothing at major events.
Ameesha was last seen in the 2024 romantic comedy Tauba Tera Jalwa, directed by Akashaditya Lama and also starring Jatin Khurana and Angela Krislinzki.
Her most recent successful release was Gadar 2, in which she returned as Sakina opposite Sunny Deol. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film also featured Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra and reportedly earned ₹686 crore worldwide.
Ameesha has yet to announce her next project.
