Popular singer of the new generation Sujana Rupa is keeping busy with new original songs, playback singing and dubbing work.
While she remains focused on releasing original music, Rupa is equally interested in singing for dramas and films. She has also been working as a dubbing artiste, a side of her career that had largely remained out of the spotlight.
Last Sunday, she completed the dubbing for the female lead in filmmaker Imon’s film Mon Shudhu Chay Tomake.
Rupa has also lent her voice to a series directed by Bondon Biswas, produced for the upcoming Durga Puja. She recently recorded the song Dukhi Mayer Kamona, written and composed by Manaraul Haque Basit. Shahadat has also lent his voice to the track.
“As a professional artiste, I am always comfortable singing, regardless of the medium. Singing itself is what matters most to me. I believe an artiste lives through new songs and finds inspiration by continuing to sing. That is why I always focus on recording new music,” Rupa said.
She said dubbing is not new to her and has become another source of satisfaction.
“I enjoy dubbing, which is why I do it with dedication. Many senior singers and actors regularly work in dubbing and earn good remuneration from it. That is another reason I have always been interested in the profession,” she said.
However, Rupa noted that dubbing requires precision, particularly in pronunciation.
“It is not easy. Your pronunciation has to be absolutely perfect. Otherwise, it is impossible to work regularly in this field. I started doing it as a hobby two years ago, but now I do it professionally,” she said.
Four more original songs featuring Rupa’s vocals are also scheduled for release. Two of them are titled Rupkannya and Tor Kotha Je Bhulte Parbo Na.
Rustam Mallik wrote and composed Rupkannya, while Tor Kotha Je Bhulte Parbo Na was written by Liaquat Ali Biswas and composed by Ashraf Babu.
Rupa will also perform at a get-together of the 1984 batch on 1 October.
