Minister for Health and Family Welfare Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain has underscored the need to bolster healthcare cooperation between Bangladesh and China through physician training, health worker exchange, joint research, and advanced health technology transfer.
In a press release issued by the Minister’s Office of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Dhaka, the minister said Bangladesh and China share long-standing friendly relations in public health and medical services.
To render this relationship more effective and fruitful, he called for expanding practical cooperation between the health institutions of both nations.
Sakhawat outlined these proposals during a bilateral discussion with hospital authorities following his inspection of Hainan General People’s Hospital in Haikou City, Hainan Province, China.
During the talks, the health minister urged Chinese medical institutions and investors to invest in Bangladesh and come forward to construct modern, high-quality hospitals.
He assured that the Bangladesh government will extend all necessary policy support and security guarantees for Chinese investors and joint health sector ventures.
To ease medical treatment for Bangladeshi patients, the minister requested special healthcare facilities and discounts at Hainan General People’s Hospital.
In response, the hospital management agreed to launch a special “Green Medical Channel” and provide special medical discounts for patients from Bangladesh.
