Popular singer Tasnim Anika is set to perform old Bengali songs at a stage show at The Westin Dhaka tomorrow. The singer, who remains busy with stage performances throughout the year, usually impresses audiences with band music and English songs.
Anika spoke about her recent engagements by phone yesterday morning. She said she has planned tomorrow’s entire show herself. From the seating arrangement and lighting to the stage design and backdrop, she is overseeing every detail. That has made the event particularly emotional for her.
“Since this is a bank’s event and most of the audience will be between 45 and 55 years old, I will sing old songs tomorrow,” Anika said. Her set will include Oliro Kotha Shune Bakul Hashe, Ami Shunechi Shedin, Amay Proshno Kore, Mayurkanthi, Akash Eto Meghla and Hoyto Tomari Jonno, along with several other songs.
“I have prepared all the songs. I hope tomorrow’s arrangement will become a unique experience with the support of my regular musicians. I am sincerely grateful to the organisers for giving me the opportunity to sing old songs at a stage show,” she said.
Anika said singer Shan Saik will also perform on the same stage. He too will sing old Bengali songs.
She will perform at another stage show at Dhaka’s 300 Feet the day after tomorrow and at another event in Dhaka on 26 September. Towards the end of this month, she is also scheduled to perform abroad with her band.
Anika has two new original songs ready for release. One has been composed by Fuad and the other by Pablo. She plans to complete the music video for Fuad’s song soon and release it for listeners.
Recently, Anika also appeared as a guest judge on an episode of NTV’s Secret Beauty Expert.
