The CID stated that intensive custodial interrogation of Don is necessary to unearth the actual mystery behind the murder, identify and arrest his accomplices, and investigate how and under whose instigation he attempted to flee the country despite a travel ban.

Earlier, in the early hours of 9 August, the immigration police detained Don at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport when he attempted to depart for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

He was subsequently handed over to the CID. On the afternoon of the same day, the court ordered him to be sent to jail. Later, on 12 August, the court rejected his bail application and sent him to jail.
