Community Bank Bangladesh PLC on Monday appointed Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin as its new Managing Director, with the bank expecting his leadership to strengthen business growth, governance and digital banking initiatives.
Emtiaz formally assumed office on Monday and was welcomed by the bank’s directors, senior management, executives and employees, said a press release.
With more than 25 years of experience in banking, Emtiaz has expertise in retail banking, SME and agriculture banking, corporate banking, transaction banking, credit risk management and branch operations.
Before joining Community Bank, he served as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Business Officer of Padma Bank PLC, where he joined in March 2023. During his tenure, he led initiatives related to business operations, customer relationships, productivity improvement, recovery management and regulatory compliance. He also served as Chief Recovery Officer and Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer at the bank.
Earlier, Emtiaz held senior positions at Premier Bank PLC, including Head of Retail Banking, Head of SME and Agriculture Banking and Head of Corporate Banking. He also worked in leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh, HSBC Bangladesh, Eastern Bank PLC and Dhaka Bank PLC.
He completed his BSS (Honours) and MSS degrees in Economics from the University of Chittagong and earned an MBA in Marketing from the Asian University of Bangladesh.
Emtiaz is also the Founder Senior Vice-President and former President of the Bankers’ Club of Bangladesh Limited, where he contributed to professional development and collaboration within the banking community.
The board of directors expressed confidence that his appointment would help Community Bank strengthen its position as a customer-focused and technology-driven financial institution while advancing sustainable growth, operational efficiency and risk management.
