The government will launch a nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign on Monday as infections and deaths continue to rise across the country.
Health authorities said the programme aims to contain the ongoing outbreak amid a steady increase in both confirmed and suspected cases.
Earlier, emergency vaccination activities began on 5 April in 30 upazilas across 18 high-risk districts, while immunisation in Dhaka started on 12 April.
Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain announced on 17 April that the expanded nationwide drive would begin on 20 April.
He also assured that there is no shortage of vaccines and urged the public not to be misled by misinformation.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), from 15 March to 19 April, a total of 38 confirmed measles-related deaths have been reported, along with 181 additional suspected deaths.
During the same period, 3,443 confirmed cases and 23,606 suspected infections have been recorded nationwide.
Health officials advised that children who are currently ill or have fever should not be vaccinated until they recover.
They also said at least four weeks must pass after the first dose before a second dose can be administered.
