The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has deployed eight platoons of its members to maintain law and order for the by-election in Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency, scheduled for April 9.
The deployment aims to ensure the by-election is conducted freely, fairly, impartially, and peacefully, according to a BGB press release.
BGB members from the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) and Patnitala Battalion (14 BGB) have already established three base camps in Bogura Sadar Upazila and have begun their duties.
According to directives from the Election Commission, BGB members will remain on duty in the constituency until April 11.
The BGB personnel will be deployed as mobile and static forces before, on, and after election day, conducting patrols and maintaining overall law and order in coordination with other law enforcement agencies.
The BGB believes that through these collective efforts, voters will be able to exercise their voting rights without hindrance, and the by-election will be completed peacefully.
The Bogura-6 seat fell vacant after BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, who was elected from both Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17 constituencies in the February 12 national election, chose to retain the Dhaka-17 seat. The by-election is being held within the stipulated timeframe according to the Constitution and the Representation of the People Order.
