A Dhaka court has shown model Simu Akter Brishti, known as Mishti Subash, arrested in an attempted murder case filed with Ashulia Police Station, effectively blocking her release from jail despite bail in four other cases.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam Sohag passed the order on Sunday after hearing the case.

Brishti was brought to the court from jail in the morning. Shortly after noon, Mishti fell ill and collapsed while being taken from the lock-up to the courtroom.

She was later brought to the courtroom after she recovered.

During the hearing, Brishti sought permission to speak from the dock.

“I went to the National Martyrs’ Memorial to pay tribute as the daughter of a freedom fighter. I did nothing wrong. But a conspiracy is being carried out against me. Whenever I get bail, I am charged in another case,” she told the judge.

“I have done nothing wrong. Instead of filing more cases against me, shoot me dead,” she added.
