State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury has urged relevant authorities to conduct regular monitoring to ensure the fair and proper distribution of fertiliser among farmers.
He announced this while addressing the monthly law and order coordination meeting of Jamalpur district as chief guest at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.
The state minister gave the directive while mentioning that there is no fertiliser shortage in the country and that the government holds adequate stocks to ensure uninterrupted agricultural activities.
Presided over by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Yusuf Ali, the meeting discussed the district’s overall law and order situation, drug control, capacity enhancement of law enforcement agencies, and the supply and distribution of agricultural inputs, particularly fertiliser.
The state minister emphasised that ensuring the timely supply of fertiliser according to farmers’ needs is essential. He warned the authorities concerned to remain vigilant against any irregularities or the creation of artificial shortages within the distribution system.
Reiterating that the government has stored sufficient fertiliser to safeguard farmers’ interests and maintain agricultural production, he assured that there is no cause for concern regarding a shortage.
Turning to the law and order situation, Yasser announced that necessary manpower and vehicles will be provided in phases to enhance the operational capacity of law enforcement agencies.
Addressing the drug menace, he described narcotics as a primary driver of societal crime and a major obstacle to development, calling for united efforts to bring it under control.
To assist law enforcement in eliminating drugs, the state minister instructed the formation of committees at the grassroots level where necessary, stressing that the administration, law enforcement agencies, and the general public must act collectively.
The meeting was also addressed by local Members of Parliament Advocate Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun, AE Sultan Mahmud Babu, Md Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim, and Mostafizur Rahman Babul.
Administrator of Jamalpur Zila Parishad Sirajul Haq, Superintendent of Police Farhana Yasmin, and Commander of 35 BGB Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, along with relevant officials, were also present and delivered speeches.
