Robi Axiata PLC posted a profit after tax of Tk937.1 crore in 2025, with fourth-quarter profit after tax rising to Tk311.9 crore, the company said in a press release.
Annual earnings per share rose 33.3 per cent year on year to Tk1.79.
Revenue stood at Tk9,992.2 crore for the year, up 0.4 per cent year on year. Voice revenue declined 2.9 per cent, while data revenue grew 5.1 per cent compared with 2024.
The Board of Directors recommended a 17.5 per cent cash dividend, or Tk1.75 per share, amounting to 97.8 per cent of the year’s profit after tax. The board approved the proposal on 19 February 2026. The 30th Annual General Meeting will be held on 22 April 2026.
The company’s capital expenditure reached Tk1,304.1 crore in 2025.
Payments to the government exchequer totalled Tk6,201.1 crore, equivalent to 62 per cent of annual revenue.
The active subscriber base reached 5.74 crore at the end of 2025. Data subscribers stood at 4.45 crore, while 3.99 crore were fourth-generation or 4G users. Data users accounted for 77.5 per cent of active subscribers and 4G users for 69.5 per cent, the highest proportions among operators in Bangladesh, the company said.
Fourth-quarter revenue rose 2.9 per cent quarter on quarter to Tk2,584.9 crore. Voice revenue increased 0.5 per cent and data revenue 4.6 per cent.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation reached Tk1,294.8 crore in the quarter, up 0.1 per cent from the previous quarter. The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation margin stood at 50.1 per cent, down 1.4 percentage points quarter on quarter. Earnings per share for the quarter were Tk0.6.
Capital expenditure in the quarter amounted to Tk686.2 crore. Robi paid Tk1,596.9 crore to the government exchequer, equivalent to 62 per cent of quarterly revenue.
The operator now runs more than 19,000 4G sites, covering 98.98 per cent of the population. As the first company to launch fifth-generation or 5G services in Bangladesh, it is working to expand the 5G ecosystem.
Robi Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ziad Shatara said sustained data growth offset continued decline in voice revenue.
“Despite continued slide in voice revenue, Robi managed to register positive revenue growth thanks to robust growth in data revenue driven by sizable addition of data and 4G users and increased data usage per user,” he said.
He said high inflation and challenging macroeconomic conditions limited subscriber spending, moderating revenue growth, while contributions equivalent to 62 per cent of revenue to the government exchequer reflect a burdensome tax regime.
Robi Axiata is the second-largest mobile network operator in Bangladesh. Malaysia-based Axiata Group Berhad holds 61.82 per cent of shares, Bharti Airtel holds 28.18 per cent and public shareholders own 10 per cent.
Robi Axiata shares fell 2.22 per cent to Tk30.80 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Thursday.
