Bangladeshi rock icon Mahfuz Anam James took part in the 13th National Parliamentary Election on Thursday, casting his vote at Baridhara Scholar School and College in Dhaka-17.
Arriving at the polling station around 3:30 pm, James was met by fans who requested selfies and greeted fellow voters and election officials. The singer praised the smooth conduct of the process, describing it as a “beautiful democratic process that defines a country.”
Speaking to the media, James said he hoped the continuity of democracy would be maintained regardless of who is elected, adding his wishes for peace and prosperity across Bangladesh. He also highlighted the efficiency of the polling station, saying that collecting the voting slip and casting his vote was “well organised” and without trouble.
Beyond casting his own ballot, James encouraged fellow band members and peers in the entertainment industry to participate in the election, checking in to ensure they exercised their right to vote.
By sharing his experience, James sought to demonstrate that voting can be both straightforward and empowering, setting an example for fans and the wider public alike.
