A concert by popular music icon James, widely known as Nagar Baul, was cancelled after an attack by outsiders at Faridpur Zila School.
At least 30 people were injured in the incident, organisers claimed, among them 15-20 were students.
The concert was scheduled to begin around 9:30pm on Friday at the Faridpur Zilla School premises.
However, just before the programme began, a group of outsiders attempted to enter the venue and, when obstructed, some individuals started hurling bricks and stones to take over the stage, triggering panic at the venue.
Students of the school put up a collective resistance, forcing the attackers to retreat. By then, several students and audience members had already been injured by brick fragments.
As the situation escalated, around 10pm, organising committee convener Mustafizur Rahman Shamim announced from the stage that the concert had been cancelled on the instructions of the district administration, considering the prevailing situation.
