Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has telephoned BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman to congratulate him on the party’s landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary election.
On Friday, prime minister Modi personally shared news of the telephonic conversation.
In a post on the social media platform X, Modi expressed his delight in speaking with Tarique Rahman, noting that he had extended his congratulations for the “extraordinary victory” achieved in the elections.
Initiating the call, the Indian prime minister further conveyed his best wishes and support for the Chairman’s efforts in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.
Reiterating the significance of the bilateral relationship, Modi remarked that as close neighbours bound by deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, he reaffirmed India’s continued commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of both nations.
Prior to the phone call, at 9:37am on Friday, the Indian prime minister had also extended his greetings via a post on his verified Facebook page.
In the message, he offered warm congratulations to Tarique Rahman for leading the BNP to a massive electoral win, stating that the victory is a reflection of the trust the people of Bangladesh have placed in his leadership.
Modi further asserted that India would stand by a democratic, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh. He expressed his eagerness to work alongside the BNP leadership to strengthen multifaceted relations and achieve common development goals for the region.
