Veteran actor Dolly Zahur, once a familiar face in Bangladeshi cinema, is set to return to films after a gap of 15 years. While she has remained active in television dramas in recent years, she will now be seen on the big screen again in ‘Domm’, directed by Redoan Rony, where she plays an important role.
Dolly Zahur last appeared in a film in 2011. With this new project, she marks her return to cinema after more than a decade. Over the course of her career, she has acted in 161 films. Her debut film was ‘Adhaar’, directed by Rahim Nawaz.
Speaking about her decision to act in films again, Dolly Zahur said she has not worked regularly in BFDC productions for many years. She agreed to take on Dum because she was impressed by the story, the locations and the director’s style of work. Describing Redoan Rony, she said he is a talented and sincere filmmaker, qualities she believes are evident in his previous projects and in his work on this film.
In Domm, Dolly Zahur portrays the mother of Afran Nisho’s character, while Puja Chery plays her daughter-in-law. Commenting on the shooting environment, she said the set has been beautifully designed and that all the necessary elements for quality work are in place.
Alongside her film return, Dolly Zahur has also recently acted in a new television serial titled ‘Parampara’, the promotion of which has already begun.
