State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit has said the country will reap the benefits once fuel prices stabilise in international market.
He made the remarks on Friday afternoon while responding to queries from reporters following a district hospital health management meeting held at the Jashore Circuit House.
Addressing recent gas supply disruptions, the state minister explained that gas pressure was temporarily low due to a slight delay in discharging gas from LNG carriers caused by adverse weather in the Bay of Bengal.
He added that discharge operations commenced at 7:18am and were expected to return to normal levels by the afternoon.
Turning to ongoing initiatives in the local health sector, Amit assured that full-fledged Coronary Care Unit (CCU) services will be guaranteed for the residents of Jashore within the stipulated timeframe.
He noted that the government is actively working to ensure that critical cardiac patients no longer have to travel to other districts for medical treatment.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the implementation progress of decisions taken during previous sessions aimed at further enhancing healthcare standards at the 250-bed Jashore General Hospital.
Good progress has been recorded on most of the decisions, while specific deadlines have been established for the remaining tasks. Amit affirmed that measures are being taken to ensure that marginal communities receive improved medical care within the next few months.
The meeting was presided over by Jashore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Asheq Hasan.
Other prominent figures in attendance included lawmaker Sabira Nazmul, Superintendent of Jashore General Hospital Dr Md Hossain Shafayat, Jashore Civil Surgeon Dr Md Masud Rana, alongside senior officials from the local health department.
