Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah have discussed increasing the export of Bangladeshi workers to Kuwait , expanding bilateral trade and investment, and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries on Friday.
The two leaders met at the Kuwait Permanent Mission in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, with a focus on increasing manpower exports to Kuwait, expanding trade and investment, and strengthening economic ties.
Recalling the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman highlighted the historic contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to developing bilateral ties and expanding mutual cooperation.
He said the foundation of mutual respect, goodwill and cooperation established between the two countries during their time has continued to expand over the years.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to further deepen and broaden the historic relations for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Bangladesh and Kuwait.
The two leaders also discussed various regional and international issues, emphasising the importance of continued regular communication, cooperation and coordination on matters of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister further stressed the need to enhance high-level contacts between the political leadership of the two countries and expand cooperation in the economy, trade, investment, manpower and other potential sectors.
Both leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthening existing cooperation for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Bangladesh and Kuwait.
