As BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh after 17 years, an old photograph of him with late film star Manna has resurfaced and gone viral on social media.

Tarique Rahman arrived in the country on Thursday, December 25, on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight from London. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, flight BG-202, landed in Sylhet at 9:55 am before departing for Dhaka at 11:13 am. The aircraft touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:40 am, where Rahman was seen exchanging greetings with senior BNP leaders. He returned accompanied by his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, barrister Zaima Rahman.

Amid widespread public attention surrounding his homecoming, a photograph showing Tarique Rahman shaking hands with the late Dhallywood star Manna began circulating widely online. The image has drawn renewed interest from both political observers and film fans.

According to available information, the photograph was taken many years ago during a Pahela Baishakh programme at Dhaka University’s Student Teacher Centre, where both Tarique Rahman and Manna were present as guests. Further details about the occasion, however, remain unclear.

After leaving the airport, Tarique Rahman went directly to the 300-feet area in Purbachal, where he briefly addressed supporters. He later visited Evercare Hospital to meet his ailing mother, former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
