A total of 26 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh have been deployed across Noakhali and Lakshmipur to ensure a free, fair and peaceful environment ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum-2026.

The Feni Battalion (4 BGB) commenced the deployment in their respective areas of responsibility on Saturday morning. Lt Col Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the deployment.

According to the press release, 16 platoons have been stationed in eight upazilas under five parliamentary constituencies in Noakhali. Additionally, 10 platoons have been deployed in five upazilas under four parliamentary constituencies in Lakshmipur.

The BGB members will operate from temporary base camps and work in coordination with the Army and other law enforcement agencies.

Their duties include intensified patrols at key locations, setting up temporary checkposts and conducting search operations.

To ensure voters can cast their ballots without fear, the BGB will maintain regular patrols around polling centres.

Lt Col Mosharraf said the force remains committed to maintaining internal law and order alongside its core responsibility of border protection.

He said the BGB would carry out its duties in line with the constitution and existing laws to uphold public confidence.

He added that operations to recover illegal arms in border areas and public awareness activities have been intensified ahead of the elections.
