A total of 25,377 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have returned home so far after performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia, according to official figures.
They returned on 62 return flights from Saudi Arabia. At the same time, 45 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died during the Hajj season.
Among the deceased, 29 were men and 16 were women. Of them, 34 died in Makkah and 11 in Madinah.
The information was updated on Thursday, according to the relevant authorities. They said the post-Hajj return flight operation is continuing in full swing and will remain in operation until 30 June.
According to the Hajj bulletin issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, among the returnees so far, 2,500 travelled under government management while 22,877 returned under private management.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has carried 7,896 pilgrims, Saudia Airlines 9,730, and Flynas Airlines 7,700. Another 51 pilgrims returned through other airlines.
Hajj management sources said this year’s Hajj was performed on May 26. More than 78,500 pilgrims were allowed from Bangladesh under both government and private arrangements.
The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh departed on 18 April, while the last outbound flight left on 21 May.
Medical and support services for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia are continuing. So far, 55,286 automated prescriptions have been issued from Bangladesh Hajj Mission medical centres.
An additional 25,100 services have been provided through IT helpdesks.
According to the bulletin, 251 pilgrims have received treatment in various hospitals in Saudi Arabia. At present, 17 pilgrims remain admitted and are receiving treatment.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs said the Bangladesh Hajj Mission, airlines and related authorities are working jointly to ensure the safe and smooth return of all pilgrims.
The return process is scheduled to be completed by 30 June with the final flight.
