WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event delivered a night of title changes, surprise appearances and major storyline developments at Madison Square Garden, setting the stage for SummerSlam.
The show opened with United States Champion Trick Williams defeating Laredo Kid in a non-title match.
Laredo Kid pushed the champion throughout the contest, but Williams regained control and finished the match with the Trick Shot.
Fatal Influence claimed the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship later in the night. Lainey Reid secured the winning pinfall over Paige after Jacy Jayne interfered, handing the faction a controversial title victory.
One of the biggest moments came during the No Disqualification match between Danhausen and JD McDonagh.
NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns made a surprise appearance and helped Danhausen neutralise The Judgment Day before Danhausen picked up the victory.
Lyra Valkyria intensified her rivalry with Bayley after overcoming a bloodied nose to win their match.
Valkyria then attacked Bayley after the bell, leaving her laid out in the ring.
In the main event, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes defeated Gunther and Sami Zayn in dramatic fashion.
The match turned when Nick Aldis unexpectedly attacked Gunther, allowing Punk to hit the Go To Sleep before Rhodes scored the decisive pinfall.
The show closed with World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and NBA star Jalen Brunson standing tall after confronting Seth Rollins and Tyrese Haliburton, capping off a dramatic night as WWE’s road to SummerSlam gathered momentum.
