Turkish drama ‘Arafta: Bound by Fate’ has developed a strong following in India, turning its lead actors Emin Günenç and İlsu Demirci into familiar faces among Indian viewers.
In their first joint interview in India, the actors spoke about the response they have received from Indian fans and their interest in visiting the country. Despite knowing little about the wider Indian entertainment industry, both immediately named Aamir Khan when asked about Bollywood.
Günenç said he and Demirci were curious about India and had received many messages from Indian fans. He added that he had heard about his appearance on Indian television news and would like to visit the country if invited.
Demirci shared similar feelings, saying she mainly knew Aamir from watching his films while growing up. She also expressed interest in visiting India and experiencing the country and its fanbase in person.
‘Arafta’ follows Ateş Karahan, played by Günenç, a wealthy man who returns seeking revenge against a family he blames for his painful past. His plan changes after he meets Mercan Yıldırım, played by Demirci.
Ateş offers Mercan a way out of her family problems in exchange for a 187-day contract marriage. What begins as a revenge-driven arrangement gradually develops into a complicated relationship involving attraction, mistrust and unexpected emotions.
The series is produced by Turkish production house Rains Pictures in collaboration with Mumbai-based GoQuest Media. Its second season features Aleyna Çalışkan, Serdar Yıldırım, Ezgi Dalgıç, Pervin Mert and Işıl Mete among others.
Aamir Khan, meanwhile, was last seen in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. His production house also backed ‘Lahore 1947’, which released on 13 August 2026.
The actor is expected to begin work on Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Lalkaara’ in October. The sports biopic will reportedly focus on legendary cricketer Lala Amarnath and is eyeing a December 2027 release.
