The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is looking to make its 2027 England tour more than a one-Test affair, with talks underway with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over adding matches to the itinerary.
Bangladesh are scheduled to face England in a one-off Test at Lord’s from May 28, 2027. BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees said the board has already approached the ECB about extending the tour and has received a positive response.
“Discussions are ongoing with England. They have announced their home schedule, and there is one Test against England. We have discussed with them that playing one Test is certainly important. But if we can add a few more matches to the tour, it would make the trip more memorable for us,” Shahriar told reporters on Wednesday.
The BCB is yet to finalise any additional fixtures, with Shahriar stressing that the board will only confirm them once the two sides reach an agreement and make an official announcement.
“England are discussing the matter very positively. But in international cricket, until something is finalised and officially confirmed through a press release, we cannot say anything with confidence or clearly,” he said.
Shahriar remains hopeful that the discussions will result in a longer itinerary.
“We are having very positive discussions with the England and Wales Cricket Board. Hopefully, this tour will not be limited to just one Test”, he said.
The format and number of any additional matches have not yet been decided. For now, the Lord’s Test remains Bangladesh’s only confirmed fixture on the tour.
