The 13th National Parliament election is set to take place next Thursday, February 12. As polling day approaches, discussions around the election have extended beyond politics into the country’s showbiz circles, especially the celebrities and their voting status.
While some figures from the entertainment industry are actively involved in campaigning, many others are preparing to cast their votes. A number of stars, however, will be unable to vote this time as they are currently abroad.
Dhaka-based actor Shakib Khan is a resident of Gulshan and a registered voter of the Dhaka-17 constituency. In previous elections, he cast his vote at the Model School centre in Gulshan. This year, however, he will not be voting as he is in India for the shooting of his upcoming film, ‘Prince’.
Actor Arifin Shuvo is a voter of the Dhaka-11 constituency but will also miss polling day as he is currently in the US. Actress Jaya Ahsan, who resides in Baridhara and is a voter of Dhaka-17, is also abroad. There has been no confirmation yet on whether she will be able to return in time to vote.
Meanwhile, actor Siam Ahmed lives in Rajarbagh and is a voter of the Dhaka-19 constituency. Actress Mehjabeen Chowdhury is registered in Dhaka-11, while actor Misha Sawdagar is a voter of Dhaka-18. Actor Chanchal Chowdhury is registered in Dhaka-8 and film actor Bappi Chowdhury is a voter of the Narayanganj-4 constituency.
Among the actresses, Purnima resides in the Nikunja area of Khilkhet and is scheduled to vote in the Dhaka-18 constituency. Actress Apu Biswas lives in the Badda area, which falls under the Dhaka-11 constituency.
