Israeli actor and flight instructor Guy Kapulnik was among two people killed when a single-engine aircraft crashed in Hesperia, California, on 24 September.

Kapulnik, 46, of Los Angeles, and passenger Taylor Laska, 33, of Santa Monica, died after the 1946 Aeronca 7AC Champion crashed near Summit Valley and Telephone Canyon roads.

Kapulnik appeared in films including ‘Room 514’, ‘Hacked’, ‘The Call of the Wild’ and ‘Lebanon’. He worked as a flight instructor in recent years and had trained for an airline transport pilot certification.

Before entering the entertainment industry, Kapulnik served as an officer in the Israel Defense Forces’ elite 669 search and rescue unit. He studied at the Technion in Haifa and the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Jerusalem.

His family described him as a man of “action, curiosity, and adventure” who moved between acting, the sea and the skies.

Kapulnik is survived by his wife and three children. The crash remains under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
