Local residents alleged that supporters of Abdul Wadud and Jalal Uddin had been involved in a longstanding dispute over control of the area.

They said the conflict had intensified recently.

Some residents suspect the crude bombs may have been stockpiled in preparation for a possible confrontation, although the claim has not been independently verified.

OC Ekaramul Hossain said police rushed to the area after receiving information about the explosions and subsequently recovered 11 crude bombs during a search.
“Police are working to maintain law and order in the area,” he said.

No one had been arrested in connection with the incident as of noon, the police official said, adding that the situation in the area was largely calm.
