Last year, only ‘Daagi’, starring Tama Mirza, was released. Her performance earned praise from both audiences and critics. Following that success, she did not appear in any new projects for nearly a year. Now, however, two new films featuring the actress have been finalised.
One of the films is ‘Jal Juddho’, directed by Golam Sohrab Dodul, in which she will star opposite Mosharraf Karim. In another project, currently untitled, she will be paired with Shariful Raj under the direction of Morshed.
Speaking about the two films, Tama Mirza said, “I have heard the stories of both films and liked them very much. Any actor would want to be associated with such stories and the directors’ ideas. However, it would not be right to say more before the official announcement.”
According to sources, shooting for Hasan Morshed’s film is expected to begin this month, although the portions featuring Tama Mirza and Shariful Raj will be shot at a later stage. Meanwhile, Golam Sohrab Dodul is preparing to begin filming Jaljuddo. The casting process is almost complete and regular discussions are under way with the production team.
In addition to her film work, Tama Mirza has also acted in the web series Dui Bandhu, directed by Indian filmmaker Anjan Dutt. The nine-day shoot in Kolkata concluded in December 2023, but the series has yet to be released. The actress herself is eagerly awaiting its premiere. Reflecting on her experience, she said, “I was a little nervous at first, but the experience was wonderful. He is not only a good director but also an extraordinary person. I learned a great deal while working with him.”
Outside her professional commitments, Tama Mirza spends her time with family and enjoys listening to music, reading, watching films and cooking, which she considers an art form. She also values solitude, saying that it allows her to rediscover herself.
Although she won the National Film Award in 2015 for her performance in Nadijan, she remained confined to conventional heroine roles for some time. That image began to change through her collaboration with Raihan Rafi. Films such as ‘Khachar Bhitor Ochin Pakhi’, ‘Floor Number Seven’, ‘Friday’, ‘Surongo’ and, most recently, ‘Daagi’ have introduced audiences to a renewed and more versatile Tama Mirza.
