Water Resources Minister, Md Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee met German Ambassador to Bangladesh Rudiger Lotz on Monday to discuss cooperation on water resource management and environmental issues.
The meeting took place at the minister’s office at the Secretariat.
The minister said Germany is a major development partner of Bangladesh. He said the current government, elected by the people, is committed to working in line with public expectations.
He expressed hope for Germany’s support in proper water resource management, preventing river pollution, and addressing floods and waterlogging.
Ambassador Rudiger Lotz said Germany is keen to work with Bangladesh to maintain balance in water resources and the environment. He reiterated his country’s interest in supporting Bangladesh.
Both sides discussed water resource management, proper use of surface and groundwater, and climate change issues.
Water Resources Secretary AKM Shahabuddin and Head of Development at the German Embassy Ulich Klepmann were present at the meeting.
