Audiences mainly know Jacky Alamgir as a comedian, and his performances have long entertained film lovers. Although he is no longer regularly seen in movies, he currently serves as the office and publicity secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association’s executive committee.
In a recent conversation, Jacky shared his thoughts on Dhallywood star Shakib Khan. He said Shakib faced numerous difficulties early in his career and even endured humiliation during an election within the film industry.
“Shakib Khan had to struggle a lot. When he went to work on his first film, he was taken there by bus. He went through many challenges. Over time, he developed his talent step by step and reached the position he holds today,” Jacky said.
Claiming that Shakib was assaulted during an election, he added, “Shakib Khan was beaten during an election. People from this industry did it, right here at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation. Everyone knows that he was humiliated. It was a shameful chapter for our film industry.”
Jacky also said Shakib has now established a separate position for himself.
“Shakib is now distant from us. Even five or seven years ago, we used to be together. Now he is on another platform and has his own world. His talent, intelligence and wealth are all greater than mine. So why would he listen to me?” he said.
Offering his personal interpretation of Shakib’s current position, Jacky added, “I think we humiliated Shakib Khan one day, and now he is taking revenge.
He is doing that by establishing himself above everyone else. This is my personal thought, not Shakib’s statement. My assumption may not be correct.”
Jacky Alamgir has been acting in films since 1982. His notable works include Loraku, Bajramushti, Ammajan, Prem Diwana and Kabuliwala.
